Niner has won the most praise in the bike industry for 29" wheel mountain bikes. Go figure, it's their only focus! These bikes ride great and are priced halfway between the expensive custom rigs like Ellsworth and Intense, and the run-of-the-mill Specialized, Giant, Trek types. We have DEMO Niner full suspension bikes, and they pedal great both uphill and down.

29" wheels have a little more ground contact and smooth out the smaller rocks and bumps better than 26" wheels do. They hold a line in the corners great with the larger wheels, and truck on the high speed dirt roads. They weigh a little more, but you won't feel it. They are not as nimble in a BMX kind of way, but they plow through the rougher sections of trail with authority. It's hard to explain in words, but most people agree you quickly get used to 29ers both in ride and looks. I don't know what I"d buy next, 26 or 29...but I can say that I couldn't really find a single thing to complain about after repeated Tahoe Singletrack rides last season on our NINER DEMO RIP bike. I definately recommend this model. The 4.5" travel feels like 6", and this All-Mountain bike really competes with an Intense Tracer II or Kona Abra Cadabra.

Check out this dream singlespeed Air Carbon bike we just built for a customer. 21lbs! email mike@thebackcountry.net with your dream parts spec, colors, or just your budget and let us help you!

2011 Niner RIP size large with XT parts kit - MSRP $4528
weighs 30lbs as pictured. Our medium weighed 29lbs with Fox QR 15 and lighter rims. Of course we can shave pounds off an bike with more money invested, call me to talk over the build kit options and balance of weight vs. performance, etc...
Available for demo or purchase. discount depends on how many times the bike has been ridden. NEW as of today 6/2/11. Don't wait, just get it new or have us build you one like you want it! This spec is pretty sweet though, you can't beet just plain old Shimano XT.

2011 Niner RIP size medium with SLX parts kit - MSRP $4150
weighs 31lbs as pictured
SLX is great stuff. It feels like XT, because it kind of is without some of the most recent weight saving tweaks. Costs less, looks great, rides great. We have a demo medium RIP in the shop as well, and of course we can rebuild you this frame or any frame with the color and parts you want.

This is a 2011/2012 Niner RDO 4" travel Carbon frame with a Fox shock. We weighed it at 5lbs. Really beautiful, and remember a 29er will feel like it has more suspension.
