It was 5/5/12 when my family and I decided to ski Mt. Dana. we used the hiker's approach rather than hiking ellory. /Users/ianscott/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2012/05/08/20120508-070229/DSC03662.JPG
when we finally reached the top we were very relieved. we decided to ski dana couloir. it was not the best snow I have ever had in the backcountry, but not the worst ether./Users/ianscott/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2012/05/08/20120508-070229/DSC03682.JPG
the mistake we made was skiing toward the skier's left, If you go right a band of snow goes but we didn't.
after probably 20 minutes on rocks, we made it to an open streak of nice corn snow the rest of the way down. We made it back to the car it was an 8 hour day./Users/ianscott/Pictures/iPhoto Library/Masters/2012/05/08/20120508-070229/DSC03728.JPG

When you say the "hiker's approach", do you mean the glacier canyon trail from tioga lake? When you did this, how much snow was there on the approach?
