the 2 of us went up from High meadows trailhead on wednesday morning. left the trailhead at 5am. put the skis on at 8,600 feet right before the star lake trail starts.
by the time we got to star lake there was a foot of snow on the ground. on the north slopes above the lake (9,000+) the was a 1 foot base with about 8 inches of pow.
got to the top of job's sister at 11:30 and dropped down towards freel and the saddle, then dropped into the north facing glacier canyon right under.
the snow had accumulated on those peaks like ive never seen it. where its usually windblown and no-snow on Job's sister was buried in 3 feet of snow. freel's northeast face was windblown, an aspect that is always skiable in winter.
those whitebark pines.. almost invisible, so buried!
all in all- 1,500 vertical of 1 to 2 feet of pow... the 500 more vertical of core-shots and the chowder
got the pix on facebook, so sorry if you cant see them
