Got snowed out of a ski trip and went riding instead. An employee of The Fifth Season in Mt. Shasta said Ashland Oregon is the best riding around. I also road in Mt. Shasta near the high school, which was okay. Kind of like the dirt and terrain arond Northstar. Ashland was really smooth and showed the difference some rain makes once in awhile. Fun trails start right out of downtown. I rode up to the Mt. Ashland Ski Area following signs for the Creek to Crest route. Signs...what a concept. Why can't our Tahoe Basin National Forest Unit do that? Oh yeah, because they're too busy always working on the "master plan".

Then I followed various singletrack trails all the way back. The local map is really good. it covers less mileage compared to the Tahoe bike trail map, so it's a little easier to follow.
