SCROLL TO THE BOTTOM FOR THE MOST RECENT THREAD

Gorgeous day on the Southwest shore. South aspects will be corn in no time, coverage is as good as it gets, and this line is way too much fun. Skied the more aesthetic section 20 line, but the lookers right line is ripening up nicely. Pretty glop-a-licious in the transitioning aspects, good semi-winter snow in more northerly aspects. I forgot how much fun the Emerald Chute is!

There's no way I can top the granjero's shots so I wont even try. Spent 3 days hitting different chutes over there last weekend taking advantage of the Feb Corn.

I was looking at a GPS track I overlaid on Google earth and have a question for those in the know. We just drained it straight out with a very small down climb at the end, that was not really any big deal, but it looks like there might be a couple options to cut skiers right at the bottom (Blue lines)??

Ja,

I've done the lower blue line each time. the first time i climbed the gully and skied the lower blue. the second time just skin up the blue through the trees (if there's enough snow). definitely better than climbing the main gully in the 3rd/4th class stuff in ski boots.

cheers

i've always had to cut right at the bottom everytime i've skied that where your blue lines are.

Skied EB Chute this morning with Shane and Chester. You can guess who is who.

We came down around 10am and the snow was just starting to soften. Most of this line "section 20" or "Emerald Bay Chute" faces southeast. 4-6" of nice faceted surface powder on NE aspect. The line was a bit skied out, but we found our own turns.

Looks like you got nice snow in there!

Yesterday even though we where first in the parking lot, we should have been there at least an hour earlier. Snowler balls and small wet slides, made it a little more spicy, get out there early.

Check out the wet slide starting to cascade over the rocks above the skier.

I'm using a splitboard the next powder day.
