Here's a fantastic 4 mile hike that doesn't climb much elevation, leaving out of Twin Lakes in Bridgeport. We stayed at the campground at the end of the lake. Only seeing the campground in it's abandoned winter state, I was expecting a gross place. It is gross in a cool kind of way. This place is hammered, from heavy summer use. People love this place. It's a beatiful spot, with world class mountain recreation above it. They have a cranking full-service restaurant, with fairly good food. A big diner menu and fast service. There is also a general store so you don't have to go back to town for anything you forget.
This is Barney Lake, with Crown Point Peak just beyond. Barney lake is 8,258'
and Crown Point is 11,346'. Twin Lakes Campground is about 7000'.
I went back to ski Crown Point Peak after seeing it from Barney Lake

A few of the sponsored athletes of the day. Combined age of 13 in this picture.
Virginia Peak above Robinson Creek.
Hunewill Peak on the right, and Center Mountain on the left. These beautiful peaks are at the end of Slide Canyon, a few miles north of the Twin Lakes Campground. The trail follows Robinson Creek from the campground, and bends left towards the Pacific Crest as it passes Barney Lake and Peeler Lake.
You can see Twin Lakes looking back, beneath Crater Crest Mountain.
This is a shot of the Incredible Hulk rock formation, on the north side of Mt. Walt, up Little Slide Canyon.
View of Center Mountain, from near Barney Lake.
