some pics from this week. Trails are amazing right now. Snow is still sitting thick along the crest and at Mt. Rose however.

here's a few shots along the Sawtooth Ridge Trail. This ride is really mostly in the trees. Very level, turny, easy, and fun ride. This ride has consistent small rocks peppered along the trail, making it one notch above a total beginner's ride. Great views in spots, and lots of flowers are out right now like Lupen and Mule Ears.

This is only half the view from the summit of Mt. Watson. This is the highest point in the forested triangle between Truckee, Tahoe City, and Kings Beach. There are short, amazing singletrack sections in this zone. You'll probably start/end in one of 4 places. Tahoe City (multiple spots),Brockway Summit, Thelin Steet Dead End in Truckee, and Western States Trail/bike path intersection, along hwy 89 between Squaw and Alpine Meadows Road.

We rode from Truckee to Tahoe City, mostly on Singletrack. These trails are not on maps, but we rode trails in this order:
Sawtooth Ridge
2 bears in a something? opposite direction around meadow from twin bridges
Lorax
Cinabar (sp?)
06 dirt road
mt. watson peak fire road climb
mt. watson singletrack descent near the summit down to Tahoe Rim Trail, to Tahoe City Nordic Center.

I think the best Truckee - Tahoe singletrack traverse would be the opposite.
Climb from TC to Watson Peak on the 06, drop off the top and turn left on the TRT.

Go around watson lake and get off TRT, making a left on the singletrack just afterwards, which climbs you up to the 06 paved road.

cross the road and descend the singletrack in front of you, which drops you onto the 06 road again (where it's not a dirt road headed for Truckee)

Descend less than a mile, and at a left hand curve in the road, go up the hill on your RIGHT and find the Bob Watson Singletrack in a logging scarred clearing.

Bob Watson is a slippery moto trail. You would never know where to make the right onto Lorax unless someone showed you. Needs a sign and to be ridden more.

Take Two Bridges to Sawtooth to Thelin Street.
