Skied both of Maggies peaks today by default, heading to Tallac. Road wasn't started by Cal Trans even at 1pm when we came back.
This last storm dumped a ton of snow. It looks like mid winter down there, and it's still good dryish, deep powder. The best stuff obviously where the sun isn't hitting the snow, and on north aspects. We skied the trees on the south peaklet, and I think we were the only two skiers today. Friends went out to Janine's, and might have clobbered it on the way back, not sure.
Then we skied the chute below the north peaklet that drops from the top. This gully is on the north side of the peak, and gives you an adventurous figure-it-out type descent to Eagle creek .We got lucky, and had good turns all the way to the road. You can definately end up in boulder fields or above cliffs if you're not careful.
It's only an extra 30 minutes to skate down the past the road closure, then skin to the bayview trailhead . Aparently, people know this because there were 12 people including us. Unlike Tallac, everyone is heading for the same few areas.
dropped camera in snow, so photos were foggy.
