Skied the elusive Bear Scratch on Saturday 1/18/03. That is the west facing gully above Sand Harbor on the East Shore. If you are into an obscure line, with no kooks around, you might want to try this. A nice vert track now goes up it. We skied at 1:30 pm and the corn was very good for a majority of the slope. Skied from about 8300' to Lake Level, crossing over the infamous flume trail. The coverage was a little thin, especially down low although we were able to ski to the Highway, walk across the street to Sand Harbor, put on a speedo and catch some afternoon rays. I doubt this line will be in too much longer, unless we get another visit from the Christ Child, El Nino.
