okay, it costs a lot of money to go from a broke 23 year old to owning this company with the infrastructure, property, and inventory that goes along with it. Thanks for reading about our exclusive "VIP BackCountry Members Club".
We struggle to buy enough product to meet demand. Knowing what people want is a good position to be in, but a frustrating one. I am seeking capital to grow sales in areas that are no brainers. Banks loan manufactures less now. Manufacturers lend Vendors less now. Vendors loan me less now. No biggie, I have adapted with more gear rental services like kayaks, paddleboards, road bikes, alpine skis, and snowboards. But this new capital we seek will help us become a better store for everyone.
So......Did you ever wish you had my life? I don't mean breaking down cardboard and merchandising all night. I mean this:
*being able to order nearly anything you want at VIP Pricing (no store profit)
*asking a really nice office manager or techie gear shop employee to help you gear up and keep track of your orders personally
*having your gear worked on by the best tech guys you can find, usually while you wait.
*hanging around a vibrant, high-on-life group of Sierra backcountry-loving locals that can teach you most anything you need to know.
*jumping in the van regularly to go do amazing trips in the backcountry with fun, enthusiastic, and experienced athletes and guides.
I realize many people reading this forum already have this life. But for those of you who don't, please email me for details. I am raising some capital by asking a limited number of customers to participate. And I am giving them an opportunity to make their money back over time through discounts, while also putting us all together in what I call the "VIP BackCountry Members Club" - Kind of like a golf club membership. Only WAY CHEAPER and more exciting. This offer is for 10 years!
Got $10,000 to help us break through to the next level as a company? There will be fine print. But what I'm saying is, for 10 grand, you can enjoy the gear shop benefits we do, for 10 years. You and your immediate family actually. Anyone that lives in your house. Do you need to upgrade all the bikes in your garage? Or the outdoor clothing in your closet? Or your entire fleet of ski gear from skating to downhill to telemark?
Some investors will easily recoup their $10,000 investment long before their 10 year period ends. It looks like this. If you spent $25,000 in retail stores over time, there would have been about $10,000 in markup. Dealer markup is usually 30-50%. You will pay 0% dealer markup on special orders for VIP Members.
*don't read this the wrong way, we don't make 30 - 50% profit when you shop here....our operating expenses are also 30 - 50%!
We already have a few members. When we hit 10, our Backcountry Club Event Calendar will be filled with fun VIP programs and events you can participate in with RSVP.

We have hundreds of vendors, and most offer simple web based ordering technology for their products for Cycling, Skiing, Snowboarding, Backcountry Camping, Rock Climbing, Kayaking, Paddleboarding, Trail running, etc...
And for those of you that are less experienced with these sports, I look forward to helping you make the transformation into a self-sufficient backcountry skier, mountain biker, or rock climber. Through regular Truckee based meetings at the shop, we will teach you the gear, how to use it, how to fix it, and the strategy for choosing adventures in general. And of course get VIP pricing on gear to recoup your 10 grand, if not more.

The fine print
Some trips and events may have costs to share such as gas, food, permits, insurance....but there is no profit or markup. Most will have no cost.
We can't LOSE money, a normal shop labor fee will be charged if you want us to build a bicycle or mount ski gear that you buy at VIP Pricing.
There will be a specific way in which we help VIP BackCountry Members make special order purchases at dealer cost. Purchasing OUR inventory through OUR credit card machines is different. In-store purchases get 20% off retail. Believe me, there is no "net profit" when we sell at 20% off retail due to cc fees, admin, tax, rent, payroll, utilities,etc.....
There will be NO limit to the number of occasions in which VIP BackCountry Members can request special orders at VIP BackCountry Membership pricing. You will be helped by my office manager and myself, although sometimes we will ask you to find out if the items are available first. In other words, you can call any manufacturer as a consumer and just ask if they have a certain bike in stock to ship. We are happy to do it for you, but this will cut down the communication delay time. Many of our vendors offer online shopping, in which we will give you a password to shop at home at any hour.
Ask me how do I expect to find the time to help you out? I already do this for a LOT of friends, guides, pros, and respected local athletes. That program won't end. However, I am now going to put energy into helping those VIP BackCountry Members that choose to invest in our growth with this offer. And... I look forward to spending some quality time in the mountains with you guys too!
