Here's what I know about Twin Peaks from a few trips up there.

You're going to hear snowmobiles and see tracks
You're going to spend twice as much time skinning as you think
You will regret not buying kicker skins and heading over from the Summit Chair at Alpine Meadows

But, when you see it from the ski area or Mt. Watson it looks bitchin! Practically unskiable. And you'll find some powder for sure. In reality it is quite easy to drop in between the two summits. It could slide though, it's just the right mix of no no's. Go when it's safe and don't snowshoe without poles. Unless you are Jason, who rocked it today with us.

I've got a map and some more info on the guidebook thread at the top. You're kinda on your own with the route up. And you're not supposed to park at the top of Ward Canyon without a home owner pass. So the best option is skin from the top of the lifts. This took me a few hours one time, and you need skins just in case you pick the wrong way back through the woods. Second would be park at the top of ward canyon and be good at route finding and drainage crossings. This worked well today. Again, this is a long climb for a short ski and you'll have to schlog out nearly an hour from the bottom of the ski descent.

View from the summit of Mt. Watson, above Tahoe City. Squaw on the right, Alpine Medows in the center, Twin Peaks on the left.

Jesse helped get our business off the ground for the first 4 years or so in the 90's. Now he's riding waves and building cool stuff in santa cruz.

Steph and Jason are in the sun at the notch here. There was a snowmobile track climbing right to that spot from Barker Pass.

Aren't we missing someone? Hey, what's this. Someone left two perfectly good dogs just hanging out in a deep hole. Might as well grab em.
