Hi Mike (or anyone else with info on this topic). I bought a 153 Voile splitboard at the backcountry a couple of years ago (that was the smallest splitboard I could find at the time). The problem is that it is way too big and heavy for me and it doesn't maneuver well in the deep powder. I am ready to sell it, and put some money towards something smaller and lighter with more maneuverability. Can you recommend one of the priors, or is anyone else making something light and small? Thanks!

Prior makes a 149 backcountry and a 150 kyber. Voile makes a 154.

You must be pretty tiny for a 153 to be to big and too hard to manuever in powder.

Sounds like you might like the Prior 150 Kyber.

Hi Mike - I am trying to decide between the Prior Khyber and the Prior Backcountry. The problem that I have with the Voile seems to be maneuverability. I can carve it fine on wide open terrain, but have a very hard time making quick edge changes, which I need to do in the trees. Its way too stiff. I am 5'2" so the size and weight are a problem for me as well, particularly in deep powder. It sounds like the Khyber might be more maneuverable than the Prior Backcountry. What do you think?
Do you know of any demo programs? I would love to try these boards before taking the plunge again. I am an AASI instructor, and work with Babes in the Backcountry.
Thanks,
Cheri

Hi Cheri,

Mike's a skier soo...... :D

The kyber turns effortlessly and sounds like it would be for you.

It should be a little softer in the flex than the Voile that you have.

If you're having trouble with edge to edge, then maybe you should be more concerned with waist width than length.

The kyber 50 has a waist width of 25cm and the newer Voile mojo in a 54 has a 24.5 cm waist. So maybe the Voile mojo will turn a little easier even though the 54 would be longer.

If budget is an issue, I'd lean towards the Voile mojo. It is also lighter than the Prior's.

You'd get a ton of feedback on splitboard.com.

Good luck.

Thank Mike, I already bought the Khyber at your store. Its awesome - turns great and performs well in the powder. I knew within a few runs that it is completely different from the Voile.

Thanks for your help.
Cheri
