I have been working on climbing the eighteen Cascade Volcano's. I have seven left to go and have lost my climbing partner. I would like to climb Broken Top & North Sister in Central Oregon coming up as soon as conditions permit. North Sister is a challenging and somewhat technical peak, so I would like to find local people (Truckee, North Tahoe, Reno) to get out and practice roped travel, placing snow protection, etc..

I have the same quest. I've skied all three Sisters, Mt. Scott, Mclaughlin, Pelican Butte, Thielsen and Mt. Bailey so far. I have summited Rainier, but didn't ski it, so will have to do it over. I also learned to ski at Mt. Hood, but never summited. So I gotta get back up there again.

I am hoping to get Jefferson this year. Have you done that one yet? If so, any advice?

If you like it steep, hit the Sunrise Couloir on North Sister. I think thats what it is called. It's the couloir hikers left of the Villard Glacier. The north east side - out of Pole Creek.

We topped out in the couloir in scary mank conditions and had to exit by dropping into the unknown abyss of a north-west aspect that dropped out of sight onto the Villard Glacier.
The conditions were icy. The slope led to the burgshrund. We sidestepped back up 50' and cut right, through the rocks and found a way around the huge, dark, gaping maw of the crevasse. It was a lot of fun!

Check this out.

Have fun up there!
