Anybody care to comment on the conditions at Mt. Tallac? I'm planning to hike up Sat(tomorrow) AM and looking for anyone that might I join heading up?
So, I've done Castle peak a handful of times and Deep Creek a couple times too this year but this is my first time up Tallac; and of course the wife is like, don't go alone, you could die, and I'm like, yeah, I suppose, but I'm not going to do anything crazy. I've got the gear, I took an Avi course with Bela a few years ago, and it's not really avi conditions as far as I know, and I got topos on a CD, and notes posted online about the hike... and my buddy's wife is like, you should go with someone else, said it twice, and I know that, so it would be good to skin up with someone familiar with the area. I'm a strong alpine skier.
Thanks.

My two cents
You won't get lost or hurt on the way up. There isn't any avalanche danger. Try to join a group on the way down. Go skiers left below the bowl into the gully, without climbing back up to the skin track. Stay away from the cliffs to skiers right beneath the bowl. they stretch most of the way over with low snow.

There should be plenty of people there on a saturday. Start very early. Like leave the car at 7am. Bring your camera.

Thanks Mike, the guidance was much appreciated. The only thing I didn't do was start out at 7, though I meant to.
A great experience.
