www.TheBackCountry.net is the online extension of our retail store. We carry all the top brands of backcountry gear for Cycling, Backcountry Skiing, Snowshoeing, Climbing, and Backpacking. Our goal is to be your favorite store!
The Tahoe City store is now called Tahoe City Bikes, and is not where you should go to shop for the techie gear and clothing. We still own this store, and are re-focusing on the products and services
which have traditionally done well. This store is 100% bike shop in the summer. We have a large bike rental fleet, a small cafe, and 10 computers for your internet addiction. AS of today, we are not sure what's going to happen in the winter. We believe a more traditional and versatile "Ski Shop" will do best in the Tahoe City store.

You'll find great coffee too, breakfast and pannini sandwhiches, and a comfy couch to watch ski and biking videos. Laptop Lounge is our internet business, where you can also copy and fax. And finally, Clear Water Day Spa occupies the second floor. They employee some of the best massage and body work people in the area.

The Back Country in Truckee was opened in 1997. In addition to backcountry skiing, climbing, camping, and cycling gear, we offer the best outdoor clothing from companies like mammut, Marmot, Cloudveil, and Patagonia. We also have a large rental fleet for cycling. This store has the best selection in Northern Calfifornia for backcountry skiing gear, and is now the only stop you need to make for the techie backcountry gear. We no longer sell this gear in our Tahoe City store, as to offer our customers a better selection and service. Our Truckee store has proven to be the more convenient location for 95% of our customers, and we just can't
bring ourselves to split up our best inventory and employees any longer. Mike still lives in Tahoe City. If you need something transferred to the Tahoe City building, just say the word. Our businesses over there will hold the items for you.
